Located in front of the lake at the Furnas, this Neo-Gothic style chapel was built in the 1870’s. The idea was of Jose do Canto, who had the Chapel built in memory of his wife who has passed away before him. Inside, his wife is buried and when Jose do Canto passed away, he too was buried beside her.
The Chapel is known for its beautiful stained glass depicting the Virgin. Unfortunately
I did not have a chance to go inside the Chapel because it was locked up. The
exterior however, although it has not been kept up over the years, was still
breathtaking. I especially loved the Roman arches, and the overall look and
texture of the Chapel itself.
